The community of Steele Creek, Alaska, is part of the Fairbanks metropolitan area, located about 10 miles northeast of the city. Steele Creek covers almost 93 square miles of land in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, home to a population of roughly 6,700 people.
Steele Creek sits east of the Steese Highway, and it’s named for the creek that flows from north to south toward the Chena River. The boundaries of Steele Creek extend east as far as the Little Chena River and Iowa Creek. Chena Hot Springs Road runs through Steele Creek for more than 11 miles, passing a number of homes spread out among large patches of green trees.
